icy

check out this crazy icicle we've had for the last few days. it's from one of our faucets which must drip somehow (my parents aren't worried about it). it's crazy to think that the whole country is so cold. but it's been nice that there's been sunshine. and that i can wear the sweater i knit for myself.

it's over 2 feet tall, and at the widest part it's about 4.5 inches.

i had to do 10 self portraits over the weekend. i think this one sort of looks like me. i've never really drawn people that much. so it was sort of cool/pretty frustrating. a lot of them look pretty bad. but it was good practice.

this time tomorrow...

so for my 18th bday, (and me graduating high school, and my sister graduating college) my family went to go visit my aunt and uncle in Bergen, Norway. we also drove around to a bunch of other places and then stayed for 3 or 4 days in Jaeren, which is more farmlandy.

there's a whole lot i could say about norway, but it's been a long time, and sadly i don't remember names of anything really. we were there for 2 weeks, and it's the most beautiful place i've ever been, it made me think of oregon, and if it wasn't so expesive to live there, i'd consider it.
these pictures are all out of order.

this is the end of a fjord. i forget which one, of course, sigh. but down in the valley we visited a stave church, and a stone church, and they were both very cool.

we climbed priekestolen (i hope that's spelled semi-right). aka pulpet rock, and the water is Lysfjord. priekestolen is almost 2000 feet in elevation, and the hike took hours. it was very wet, a weird sprinky rain that never ever stops.

sheepity sheep sheeps!

hey does this look like oregon, cuz it's not...

this is the coast near jaeren. there were cows, jellyfish, and viking grave mounds.

the harbor in Bergen, it was always a happening place.

David Bowie played across the street from my aunt's appartment, it was pretty awesome.

this is how short i am

this is how fun norway is, i wanted to stay and build a house

and this is one of the stave churches, i think the only one we actually went into. it was really cool. they used to have hundreds (i think?) and now there are only a few because they've all been burned. but yeah, there are houses/building made out of Huge logs in norway, it's amazing.
um yeah, we have a million more pictures, and maybe i'll show more later.
but if you get the chance, Go!! and if you want to hear more, just ask me.

cats n yarn

this is how cute my cat is. and in case you're wondering, i did make that quilt (in high school) and i knitted the the blue/purple blanket, and it's super warm, and so my kitty is always sleeping on it.

socks for a brianne friend! (if my camera was better you could see the texture better, but it's kind of like thermal shirt-like.) did i already talk about this sock? the yarn is 25% soy, which is cool. i want to try some of the bamboo yarns (i know, right?) but it's pretty spendy. and they have some out of corn, and i even saw banana once, which seemed not so fun to knit with. like, not very soft at all, so i don't know what you'd make with it.

i still want to knit with shoelaces, and strips of fabric, and i started knitting with this video tape stuff from opb that they sold at scrap. like, it's a reel of tape, but maybe an inch wide or a little thinner. anyways, it's like knitting cassette tape, but less breakable, more squeaky, and i have no idea what to do with it. so i just stopped for now at least. i mean, what do you make with that? cuz it's all thick, plasticy, and makes annoying noises. so yeah, i'll figure it out. i thought of curtain type things, like just to block out some light, but then imagined how dusty it would get. but i guess you could just rinse it off and hang it outside to dry or something.

the beginning of gloves. the black is alpaca, which is super soft and it's been really neat to knit with. i've never knit with it before, that i know of.

i want to blog about my jazz history class, cuz today was cool, but i need to go do other stuff.

sigh, finally

well, i finally found out why i haven't gotten my photo id for school in the mail yet. i guess i was supposed to sign a form, and mail it in, even though i filled out a bunch of stuff online like over a week ago. so yeah, i've been waiting around for it, and cursing the fact that i don't have my bus pass yet (which i need the ID card for, cuz it goes on your card, i guess) and 2 days out of the week i use 3 bus tickets, and 3 days i use 2. so yeah. fun times, i guess i didn't read everything well enough or something.

and i finally figured out who i need to talk to get my email account started. and i finally got the ipod chord i'd been waiting for in the mail today. yeah, i found an ipod months ago, and we tried to find it's owner for about a month, and then it sat for about 3 months, and then i decided to just buy a chord and use it. so yeah, it's only a nano and holds 2 gb. but i knitted a cozy for it (did i already talk about all this?) and it will be nice for on the bus. yay!

and i finally got a book yesterday that i put a hold on at the library that i need for one of my classes, so yay, saving money!

and i still need to find a job and figure out a trip to france over spring break. and i've been really wanting to work on getting my songs ready for recording. which is a lot of work, and i'm not sure how to make all those decisions.

meow! my mix for the cd mix exchange is almost ready. the cds are ready, all 15 of them, most of the Hand-Written liner notes are done (i think i have 3 left), and then i just have to figure out packaging them safely and recycley. hehe. yay. i'm so excited!!! and it looks cool, and i hope people like it.

who likes to rock the (new years eve) party?!

so, we meant to make a zine over winter break, cuz once brie and i made a 3day zine. and it was fun. so new years, we just started drawing some random stuff. so if you have good ideas, you can add to it or something, and finish it. haha.
the 1-8 thing was me writing down things erin and brianne were saying. and that other thing is supposed to be a bandaid, haha.

ps: flight of the conchords is great, i wish i was watching it right now!

won't you be our fiend too?

ha.

so Making Fiends is a great show. it started out as just web cartoons, and now it is going to be on nicolodeon. which i felt a little weird about cuz i love the original shows, but i just read an update, and they Are keeping the same voices! which is really awesome, and of course, the art will be the same. so yeah. that's exciting, cuz i watched a little clip of something a month ago or so, and they had different voices, and i was so sad, because it wasn't the same.

i started watching amy winfrey's stuff back when i was in high school. my dad found this weird traffic cone preservation website. (i'm pretty into traffic cones). and it was awesome, and from there we found a link to the Muffin Films, which are 12 short animated films about muffins, which are all in different styles. and i love them, and quote them sometimes..."how can you not like mu-u-ffins, when there are so many kinds, if you do not like mu-u-ffins just try another kind, just try another kind" um yeah. so then there were the Big Bunny films, which are silly and i love the episode with the cat, even though it's dark humor.

and then, Making Fiends happened. and it was amazing. each episode has a cool little song in it, and i love all the characters and voices, and the giant kitty fiend, of course. and so if you haven't seen them, maybe at least check them out. and remember to eat your vegetables.

i don't have a tv, but i hope i get to see some making fiends shows, whenever it's done. and i do hope that they stick to the show pretty well. i mean, i know they'll make more episodes, but just if it's super different, all their fans might be kind of sad. but it sounds like they're working hard to make it as awesome as possible, and i'm so excited.

i painted faces at the mississippi street fair this summer, and two girls asked for muffins, so i had to ask if they'd seen the muffin films, and they had, and they were probably in high school, and it made me happy that people were still watching it. yeah. "making fiends, making fiends, vendettas always making fiends, making fiends, while charlotte makes friends."

won't you be our friend too?

abbi and i made this for todd's arrested development-themed b-day 2 years ago. we came up with the story over the phone and i started drawing it out. then we inked and colored most of it together.

(i really like this page)

we came up with ideas for the song together on the phone, and then recorded it together. i don't have a copy of it yet, but i'll try and get one this week. it's pretty longwinded, and i remember trying to record it perfectly and doing it over a bunch, and then sort of giving up on the perfection. haha. um, the chorus is:

we're forest friends, we're forest friends, we like to play with our frisbees. we're forest friends, we're forest friends, won't you be our friend too? won't you be our friend too?

and todd loved it, and had blue face paint on.. cuz he was tobias. and yeah, i won't mention the cutoffs. but, i love when books are more than just books! and it's funny cuz the last page says to listen to todd and his forest friends, and then it's just me and abbi. hahaha. yep.
