yarn and stuff

let's see, a bit ago i finished the gloves for deborah, (that's a pretty unflattering picture of them, oh well) and some legwarmers for angie (dark blue with dark red tube sockesque stripes), and an ipod nano cozy, i made the pattern up by myself, orange and hot pink. and yeah, a secret for alissa, which she already knows about, but doesn't know JUST HOW AWESOME it is yet. hehe. it looks amazing, i'll post pictures later.

and now i've just started my 2nd sweater, it's from the stitch and bitch nation book, and it's a super cute cardigan and in the picture the girl has braids, so you know, i kind of had to do that one. this sweater is knit with bulky weight yarn and size 10.5 needles, so it's going pretty fast already. except it makes my hands tired after a while, maybe it's the purling on the way back for 106 stitches... hmm. yeah. it's black with pink and red like the original is in the book, and i still need to find one color. wow, now that i saw that picture that i just linked to, i wish it was blue... hmm.

today brie brie and i went to the yarn store, and i bought sock yarn for some replacement socks (the first pair i knit for her got borrowed, and lost, the girl's excuse was something like "oh, i think one got lost in the wash" which is funny, cuz you hand wash them...sad...anyways i'm not mad. i think it's amusing mostly. thought they were cool socks) but, hey, i wanted to knit her another pair anyways. so woo. and this yarn (TOFUtsies) is made of 50% wool, 25% soysilk fibers, 22.5% cotton, and 2.5% chitin. hmmm... the label says "chitin is fiber from shrimp and crab shells: it's naturally antibacterial!" so yeah. cool, haha. they also had super expensive bamboo yarn that was in really cool colors. maybe someday.

i also got some noro yarn, which i've always wanted to try knitting with, cuz the colors look cool. (the color i got is 213, if you care that much) and there's a pattern in the stitch and bitch nation book for mits/wristwarmers that are cool, and have cables on them, which i've never done, so it'll be fun. yep. so yeah, i hope i can get a lot of knitting done in my last week off. hmm. let's not think about it. augh!!!

so yeah, disclaimer: um, i put off buying the stitch and bitch books for a long time. i like some of their patterns, but a lot are weird. but there were finally enough in the nation book where i felt like it was worth buying. but some knitters, are like...wooo stitch and bitch rocks! and i'm more like, that's a dumb name, and yeah some of the patterns are cool. it is funny though, cuz my mom says the title sometimes, and i've never heard her say bitch before in my life. ha.

today i screenprinted some for the first time in like 6 months. and it was fun. (though in real life, the shirt is more bright green. it's a bad spellers shirt i made up a random stencil for mainly cuz i'd gotten weird stains on the shirt from etching ink, and yes i messed up, did the words backwards, was going to change it and then decided it was funny, and kept it. and also, i didn't use quite enough ink, so the edges are kind of hazy, but i'm just happy to wear my green shirt again! yay!)

i also started a polar bear screenprint i've wanted to do since the summer, but i messed up the stencil, cuz i was using screen filler fluid stuff, and didn't really know what i was doing. and so i will probably redo it tomorrow. i also saw the movie Juno, and liked it a lot. you know, michael cera. yay! and i did other stuff, like music homework, and seeing friends. meow.
